Harding Heights Ranch Ltd. is a small family owned horseback riding business located in the beautiful Columbia River Valley region of British Columbia, Canada.  We take pride in our animals and in our home.

Harding Heights Ranch Ltd. is probably the only Ranch that you will ever visit that does not use bits in the horses mouths or shoes on their hooves; instead we use a more natural way and we ride our horse in rope halters.  Harding Heights also does not believe in shoeing our horses - all 15 of our horses go barefoot!  You too can come and enjoy this "newer" way of interacting with horses and see how truly happy our horses really are!!

Please come and visit us and book your Trail adventure today!

What we Offer at Harding Heights Ranch Ltd.:

The Harding Heights Ranch offers:  Year round guided trail rides, children's birthday parties, lessons in basic western riding and horsemanship, kids horse camps, horse drawn rides and Christmas light tours, farm tours and pony rides with petting zoo plus horse training, conditioning and rehabilitation.  For the Keeners try a lesson combined with a trail ride where you will learn to brush, hoof pick and saddle your own horse.

*New this year is our Equine Assisted Learning program with Leah Hope RN and Certified EAL facilitaor.  For this program we will be working to bring you Team Interactive Youth Programs (proactive & rehabilitative).

As always we have our all natural manure sales $40.00/truckload - you pick up.

The Latest From Harding Heights Ranch Ltd.

Hi All!

Old man winter seems to be settling in here in the Kootenays... I guess we just have to make the best of it and dress a little warmer to play outside!

We are now booking for Horse Drawn Christmas Light Tours for the month of December and first week of January.  The Christmas wagon holds up to 10 adults (more if kids) and the rides are still ~ 20 minutes long.  The cost to book the whole wagon is $175.00.  Drop in is $20.00/adult and $12.00/child ages 3+.  Our schedule is as follows;  December 3rd we are booked for Montrose family day, December 11th we are booked out in Castlegar.  The days that are still avaliable for bookings are December 14 & 18 (16 if we have the interest), 21st, 23rd (one spot left at 6:30pm), 26th, 28th, 30th and January 1st and 4th.  We only book 3 runs/night between 5:00pm and 7:30pm so hurry up and book now!  Areas we will run are Glenmerry, Shaver's Bench, Tadanac & Montrose but we have to have at least all 3 runs booked to make it worth our while.  For other locations please call or email.

The Equine Assisted Learning Program has been great...  Yay!!  We graduated our two fall groups on November 18th and we are very proud of all their efforts and accompishments.  Equine Assisted Learning focusses on team interactive youth programs (proactive & rehabilitative) working at building life skills in a fun, creative, hands on environment with the horses.   We are currently looking to book a couple of groups for the spring sessions starting at the end of March.  Maximum group size will be 6 kids.  This is a great addition to Harding Heights Ranch Ltd. and we are excited to offer it to our communities as this program really gets results and is a wonderful way for the kids to experience experential learning; active learning in a fun, creative environment!  The Trail Daily times has run an article on the EAL pilot group and you can access that at:           http://www.bclocalnews.com/kootenay_rockies/traildailytimes/news/125033224.html

Facilitators include Leah Hope RN/Certified EAL facilitator and Myself.  Please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  for more information or to book a spot.

Lessons are still ever so popular.  We continue to accept new students so if you have or know of someone who is wanting some real horse time and the knowledge of how to properly take care of them then please give us a call.  We teach lessons in horsemanship and basic western riding.  Our methods are of Natural Horsemanship which is building a bond between horse and rider with language, love and leadership.

We also offer GIFT CERTIFICATES which is a great idea for Christmas!

Children's Birthday Parties are a hit!  If you have a winter or spring birthday it is no problem, for an extra $10.00 we offer a fire and you can bring hot dogs and marshmallows to roast.  You can read up on the birthday parties in our Q and A's section.  The kids have a blast and love living life on a farm for an afternoon where they get to pet, hold and feed all of the animals, ride a horse and play on the tire swings!  Book your party today!

Winter Trail Rides are always beautiful with the snow and the cool crisp air! Come out and enjoy the serenity of being on the back of a horse while it guides you though a winter wonderland.  Bring your camera as there will be lots of view points and photo ops!

That's all for now folks =)  Looking forward to seeing everybody this holiday season!

Happy winter,

Shauntelle LeRose Wink
